Sailing date: Sep 2007

Pros:

Ship size OK and the decor is to much look like a Casino decor. Even if they say it is a Venetian style from a Palace well they don't have it.

Dining/Food
Food in the dining Room was very mediocre" The PASTA is serve every night with the same tomato sauce but they call it a different name(people are not crazy). The Tiramisu is a MOKA chocolat cake the Chef should learn how to do it right. The buffet in the afternoon was better but average.

Entertainment & Activities
The shows are similar to the one we have in 5* resorts. Only one night we had a wonderful American woman singer that captivated her audience. Plus a piano singer Alex that is wonderful.

Worst cruise staff ever! by A Traveler from Cincinnati, OH
Sailing date: Mar 2007

Pros:
The ports of call, the decor of the ship

Cons:
The staff, entertainment, bedding, linens, ammenties, etc.

Beware! We cruised on the Costa Mediterranea Cruise Ship March 2007 to the Eastern Caribbean. We were not in the ports very long. A big let down! This was the worst staff on a cruise that we have ever experienced! They were not friendly, infact they would not even acknowledge you half of the time! They spoke in broken English, since about 95% of the staff were from another country. There was a language barrier. They needed more fluent English speaking staff if they are going to cruise in the USA! They were not family friendly! There were no organized activities while on board that were family geared! They wanted adults to do their thing and children to do there own seperate thing! We wanted to do family things together! They provided alot of trash for entertainment...even for the children! They lied to us several times about events. They also had events scheduled and never showed up to do them leaving cruisers hanging! The cabin was small. The linens and bedding were very cheap looking and needed an update! Some had holes in them! They never refilled the shower gel in the shower when it ran out! Clean glasses in the bathroom were few and far between! As far as the food goes, there were some really good dishes, but over all the food was not great by any means. . .a big let down! The ship itself was beautiful! We will never use this cruise line again! They are suppose to be top of the line but I do not see how! Other cruisers on the ship agreed with us also!

They had some good dishes, but overall the food was not great! The second seating was way to late to eat!

Stateroom Quality
The staterooms were very small. You have to turn sideways to enter with your suitcases! The amenities were very few and far between! When the shower gel in the shower ran out they did not refill it! There were no shampoo, conditioner, etc in the bathrooms. The linens and bedding were out dated and some had small hoes in them!

Ship Staff Quality
The staff's attitude ws awful! They acted like they did not want to be there! They did not smile or hardly acknowledge you at all. WHen you smiled at them or said hello they would look the other way sometimes! They NEVER went up and beyond for you!

Entertainment & Activities
Entertainment was trashy and dirty! They did not have family geared activities! Wanted children and adults to be separated!

Costa is great! The airlines suck! by Chuck F. from South St. Paul, MN
Sailing date: Feb 2007

Pros:
Everything Costa did on the cruise.

Cons:
Costa's shoreside support (hired hands).

The ship is marvelous. The ship's crew is marvelous. We can't say enough about them in the positive.

Dining/Food
The formal dining room was a bit too much for every day, so we spent a number of meals in the deck nine buffet - can't say enough positive about both places. Some idiot complained that there was only some snack foods and pizza - yeah... but then from 6:30 to 8:30 they serve a marvelous buffet including most of the things in the main dining room! I guess you have to actually read what they send you every day in the ship news bulletin... duh!

Stateroom Quality
We had the 'superior' stateroom with balcony on the stern near the centerline of the ship. The room was roomy, comfortable, and clean, clean, clean (thank you Janet!). We left the door to the balcony cracked open with a deck chair at night to hear the sea slide by the ship and get the ocean air in the cabin... Sweet!

These men and women go all out for you. The ship is spotless (she has that reputation) and the various crew put up with all us gaping azorks while maintaining politeness that will surely get them front row seats in heaven.

Entertainment & Activities
The theater acts are great. The rest of the cruise is lounge acts that are passable, musical singles, duos, and trios that are fun, and fun night stunts for the passengers that are also great to get into. Some of it may be a bit amateur, but it a great bunch of folks going all out to entertain you. My hat is off to the whole bunch.
