Pros:
The service, the food, the fun, the 'Italian Style'

Cons:
The decor!!

Overall the ship is fine. It's interior design is a little confusing, and I wasn't surprised that some passengers could n't find their restaurant. But, once you find your way about, there's no great problem.

Ship Quality
Public areas all clean, and well serviced. But --- and it's a big but, the decor is over the top. We understand that the interior design is the responsibility of the main designer employed by the American owners. We commented more than once that the Solara Lounge, for example, looked as if it had been designed by someone high on LSD. It's the American idea of what Italian style is, and to British eyes, unsubtle and cliche. However, we enjoyed out cruise, despite the decor, which is a sad thing to say. On a previous cruise with Costa (on the Costa Victoria), we enjoyed the decor as well.

Dining/Food
It would be nit-picking to criticise the food - there was nothing wrong with it, there was plenty of it, and at formal dinners it was served with courtesy and panache. I put on 1.5 Kilos; is that proof enough of the quality of the food?

Stateroom Quality
Our stateroom was reaaly good - an outside room with a window. Much larger than the inside cabin of our last cruise, and great having a window. Spacious, lots of cupboards an so forth. Well serviced; nice to have the beds turned down at night. We had no complaints

Ship Staff Quality
I cannot commend the staff of the Costa Magica higher - they were efficient, they were courteous, they were friendly, and they did an excellent job. Senior staff in the restaurant and elsewhere were truly professional - and that's a commendation.

Entertainment & Activities
We have to say excellent, although we only joined in one session of dance tuition - but that was great fun. Primarily were were there to relax. But what we did, however little, was excellent.
